About 4-H
4-H clubs encourage youth, ages 5 to 19, to learn by doing. 4-H programs actively involve youth in quality experiences that focus on lifelong learning of values and skills. There are a variety of 4-H clubs and groups that young people can join.
Youth that want to join horse 4-H they don’t have to have a horse. This is called the horseless program. In this program youth still learn the same thing as the youth who have horses.
Washoe County 4-H Horse Judging
Saturday, August 29th

Washoe County and neighboring Nevada and California 4-H Members are invited to participate in a Horse Judging Contest the morning of August 29 at the Washoe County Extension Office. The event will include
**attendees judging horses based on videos of two halter classes and two performance classes
** giving oral reasons on one halter class and one performance class
** feed ID multiple choice test
** tack ID multiple choice test
All horse 4-H members and parents are invited to participate. A light snack will be provided during the contest.

Washoe County members, remember participation in the Judging Contest is part of the 100% Participation requirements for Year End Awards recognition.

Sagebrush Community Horse on August 15th Show is Postponed to Saturday, October 3rd
Due to the continuing fires and air quality issues, the Sagebrush Community Horse Show scheduled for Saturday, August 15 is postponed to October 3rd.
We realize the fires haven’t impacted everyone but it is an issue for many. The horses that have been breathing smoke for the last five days must have recovery time.
Please keep September 12 on your calendar and add October 3 to complete our show series.
